Athletic Training
Athletic training is an important part of the athletic program at Covenant. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Our mission at Covenant is to not only provide excellent medical care but to be consistent moral witnesses.
Sophia Gutierrez, MS, LAT, ATC

Sophia Gutierrez is a Board Certified and State Licensed Athletic Trainer. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology with a focus in Athletic Training from St. Edward's University. She further pursued a Master of Science in Athletic Training Degree from UT-Arlington. Previously, Ms. Gutierrez worked at Midlothian Heritage High School as the Assistant Athletic Trainer (2019-2021) and then as the Head Athletic Trainer (2021-2024). In addition to her clinical duties, she has held the role of Social Media and Promotions Chair for the North Texas Athletic Training Society (2022-2024), and currently serves as the Secretary on the Board of Directors. She is dedicated to mentoring students and aspiring Athletic Training professionals. Ms. Gutierrez's passion for Athletic Training is rooted in the belief that sports offers a pathway to greatness and she is continuously advocating for a safe competitive environment for all. Outside of work, you can find her spending time with family, relishing in her role of auntie to 5 nieces and nephews, finding new recipes to cook, and traveling to new destinations.
