7th and 8th grade physical and/or earth SCIENCE TEACHER

Seeking a full-time, experienced Logic School (7th-8th grade) science teacher beginning in the fall of 2020. Candidates should have an understanding of classical Christian educational philosophy, a love for teaching and for students, an appreciation of the Covenant mission, and must personally embrace our statement of faith.  Responsibilities will include teaching Physical and/or Earth science, serving as a mentor, and participating as needed in the co-curricular life of the school.  

The ideal candidate will possess most or all of these qualifications:

  • Ability to teach middle school science courses, with specific expertise in Physical and Earth science.
  • A post-secondary degree in science or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in employing a variety of pedagogical approaches to reach different learning styles with expertise in the classical style utilizing Socratic dialogue. 
  • Interest in using technology thoughtfully and creatively to enhance teaching and learning 
  • Flexibility and collaborative spirit in working with department members and colleagues across disciplines

Theater Teacher & Drama Assistant (Part Time)  

Part-Time Sixth Grade Theater Teacher and Drama Assistant (grades 6-12) for the 2020-2021 academic year.

An ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree, teaching experience, a special love for middle and high school students, and the winsomeness and creativity to teach them.  The candidate should be a mature Christian committed to lifetime learning and professional development, eager to nurture a similar spirit in his or her students.

Position Duties: (20-26 hours a week)

  • Able to lead 6th grade classes through a study of Shakespeare's life and two of his major works per year using Cass Foster Sixty-Minute Shakespeare texts or Globe Education Shorter Shakespeare booklets. Must engage students with drama games, group discussions, creative writing and participation in reading and acting of scenes from the play. (2x10/week = 20hours)
  • Assist Drama Director with scheduling rehearsals, communication, ordering, and budget tracking. (1-2hours/week)
  • Assist in organization and maintenance of props, costumes, makeup room and backstage areas. (1-2hours/week)
  • Assist with various aspects of production as needed. (As needed and agreed by both Director and Assistant)

Choir & Music Assistant (Part Time)   

The Covenant School of Dallas, a classical, Christ-centered school, seeks a Choir & Music Assistant (Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric) for the 2019-2020 academic year.  An ideal candidate will have a bachelor degree, teaching experience, a special love for middle and high school students, and the winsomeness and creativity to teach them.  The candidate should be a mature Christian committed to lifetime learning and professional development, eager to nurture a similar spirit in his or her students.

Position Duties: (20-24 hours a week)

  • Able to lead 7th and 8th grade choir classes by playing piano for large group and directing sectionals for small groups. (10 hours)
  • Assist with warm-ups as needed in grammar school: critical listening for diction, intonation running sectionals with some conducting. (5 hours)
  • Assist Choir Director with scheduling rehearsals, communication, ordering, and budget tracking; logging, copying, filing, test and record keeping for the choral classes including 5th grade,6th grade, 7th and 8th and Rhetoric.
  • Maintain music library in access on computer and add to the computer new titles and assign library numbers.  Assist in preparing music for distribution to classes (hole-punch, number, etc.) Take up music, put in numerical order and file after concerts.  Bill students for replacement costs if they lose music.  (5 hours/week)
  • Assist with various aspects of production as needed. (As needed and agreed by both Director and Assistant)
  • Able to chaperone trips and organize parent chaperone groups.
