Shelbi McMullen holds a Master of Music degree from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Music degree from East Texas Baptist University. Throughout her undergraduate and graduate work, she sang in numerous concerts, operas, and musicals. She has studied and sung professionally in Italy, Austria, Germany, and the United States. Her work has included singing at events and in professional ensembles in the Dallas area, premiering new music, and freelance work such as liturgical singing, accompanying, composing and arranging, teaching theory, and teaching private lessons. She has directed children's choirs, middle school and high school choirs, and college-level ensembles since 2016.
In her first year at The Covenant School, she taught Kindergarten and 1st grade music, 6th grade ukulele and theory, and was the Assistant Director for 6th-12th grade choirs. Since Fall 2023, she has been the Logic and Rhetoric Choral Director at The Covenant School. Her greatest joys as a teacher are helping students find and love their God-given singing voices and making music as understandable, accessible, and worshipful as possible. Shelbi's favorite hobbies include gardening, cooking, traveling, making beautiful music, and spending time with her husband, Anthony, and their precious son, Tristan. Matthew 6:25-34
