Rhetoric Art Teacher
Job Summary: An Art Teacher should be a qualified, collegial educator who possesses a winsomeness and creativity to teach all levels of students. This teacher will be a mature Christian who is dedicated to lifelong learning and professional growth, passionate about nurturing and inspiring students, and enthusiastic about collaborating with a committed team of administrators and teachers to support Covenant’s mission.
Essential Functions: The ideal teacher will consistently perform the following in the classroom and with their students:
- Exhibit the fruits of the Spirit, serving as a Christian role model both in and out of school.
- Set a good example for students, parents, and colleagues in speech, actions, attitude, judgment, dignity, and respect, while living in obedience to God’s Word.
- Demonstrate an expertise in Art Education and an ability to exhibit a deep understanding of artistic techniques, history, and theory while fostering a passion for continuous learning, and creative development, to inspire students in their artistic growth.
- Collaborate with the Art Department to assist with the design of age-appropriate art curriculum for Rhetoric students, covering foundational to advanced concepts across various artistic mediums, while ensuring alignment with Covenant’s classical Christian mission and vision.
- Provide instruction in art techniques, art history, and art appreciation.
- Follow curriculum guidelines for the classes that are taught.
- Cultivate an orderly and respectful classroom environment where students can focus on learning and creating.
- Guide students in developing technical skills, creativity, and an appreciation for beauty in art, emphasizing excellence and discipline.
- Teach students to analyze and evaluate art, fostering their ability to discern truth, goodness, and beauty.
- Encourage and mentor Rhetoric students to take leadership roles in art projects or art initiatives.
- Inspire students to value art as a reflection of God’s beauty and order, encouraging them to approach artistic creation and appreciation with reverence, discipline, and gratitude.
- Work with Covenant colleagues to integrate the artwork of students into other subjects.
- Showcase student work at School events and competitions.
- Able to adapt quickly to needs of the students and the needs of the Art program at Covenant.
- Attend monthly meetings with the Fine Arts division.
- Attend regular meetings with the Visual Arts department.
- Exhibit a collaborative and adaptable attitude while contributing to the needs and goals of the fine arts department.
- Utilize school-provided technology and software to maintain accurate and consistent records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress, ensuring timely and organized reporting.
- Display a collaborative and cooperative spirit by supporting the broader goals and initiatives of the Fine Arts Department.
- Serve as a shepherd to each student, advising them in their walk with Jesus Christ.
Minimum Experience and Background:
- Bachelor degree in Art, Art Education, or related field
- Experience in teaching Art
Specific Requirements Include:
- An engaging and imaginative approach to inspiring students through the teaching of Art.
- The ability to provide constructive and encouraging feedback.
- Able to promote an appreciation for beauty as a reflection of God’s character to students.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 25–30 pounds, bend, stoop, or kneel to assist students, and actively supervise students during indoor and outdoor activities.
- Should be present at various school events, open houses, or extracurricular activities.
- Ability and commitment to work occasional weekend and evening hours as needed.

Rhetoric School Life Sciences Teacher
Job Summary: The Covenant School seeks a qualified, collegial, and experienced science teacher to serve in the Rhetoric School (9th to 12th grade), teaching Biology, Anatomy, and/or Environmental Science.
This teacher will be a mature Christian dedicated to lifelong learning and professional growth, passionate about nurturing and inspiring students, and enthusiastic about collaborating with a committed team of administrators and teachers to support Covenant’s mission.
Our science department seeks to give students a growing sense of wonder at the workings of God’s creation, guiding them to be astute observers of natural phenomena and skilled practitioners of the scientific method. Moreover, all Covenant teachers serve as pastors (shepherds) of our students, advising them in their walk with Jesus Christ.
Essential Functions: The ideal teacher will consistently perform the following:
- Exhibit the fruits of the Spirit, serving as a Christian role model both in and out of school.

Rhetoric School Latin Teacher
Job Summary: The Covenant School seeks a high school Latin teacher who possesses a strong understanding of Classical Christian pedagogy. The Latin Teacher will be a fluent reader of classical Latin, well versed in vocabulary, grammar, and literature, as well as Roman history, Roman culture, and best practices of instruction for language acquisition. S/he should be able to lecture and to lead discussions of classical texts and topics, and should be capable of coaching students in the development of Latin vocabulary, grammar, and translation, especially at the beginner and intermediate levels. This teacher will be a mature Christian dedicated to lifelong learning and professional growth, passionate about nurturing and inspiring students, and enthusiastic about collaborating with a committed team of administrators and teachers to support Covenant’s mission.
The Teacher will be expected to teach our established curriculum, using The Cambridge Latin Course and employing a hybrid of reading and grammar-translation approaches. The teacher will be expected to work in tandem with the other Latin teachers to coordinate student learning across levels.

Rhetoric School English Teacher
Job Summary: The Covenant School seeks a qualified, collegial, and experienced teacher of high school English.
This teacher will be a mature Christian dedicated to lifelong learning and professional growth, passionate about nurturing and inspiring students, and enthusiastic about collaborating with a committed team of administrators and teachers to support Covenant’s mission.
Our English Department emphasizes close, careful reading of great texts; clear, vibrant writing in multiple genres; and the cultivation of reason, imagination, and the affections through the written and spoken word. The ideal candidate for this position will be well versed in American literature, lyric poetry, and writing pedagogy. S/he should be able both to lecture and to lead dialectical investigations into great texts, and should be capable of coaching students in the subtleties of written style and rhetorical delivery. Moreover, all Covenant teachers serve as pastors (shepherds) of our students, advising them in their walk with Jesus Christ.

Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) - Part-time
Job Summary: The Covenant School seeks a qualified, collegial, and experienced part-time therapist to provide diagnostic, explicit, systematic multisensory structured language intervention. This individual’s primary responsibility is to build a high degree of accuracy, knowledge, and independence for students with language disorders, including dyslexia.
This is a part-time position which is an on-campus intervention with 3-4 students.
This individual should be able to work three sessions a week per student during the school year (excluding holidays) and 18 sessions during the summer months.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- ALTA (Academic Language Therapy Association)
- Proof of training in Take Flight
- Proven track record of excellent
