Michael Attaway began his musical journey at the age of six in his church choir and picked up the trumpet at eleven. He continued his trumpet studies through middle and high school, eventually earning a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music. While at Baldwin Wallace, Michael studied under James Darling and Jack Sutte, both members of the world-renowned Cleveland Orchestra. He went on to earn a Master of Music in Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he had the opportunity to study with one of his musical heroes, Michael Sachs, principal trumpet of the Cleveland Orchestra. Michael currently serves as the Director of Fine Arts at The Covenant School in Dallas, Texas. His teaching experience includes positions at Tarrant County College and Collin College, along with extensive private instruction across the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He has presented clinics at the Texas Music Educators Association conference and for the Society for Classical Learning. As a performer, Michael has appeared with ensembles such as the Dallas Wind Symphony, Dallas Pops Orchestra, Charleston Symphony, and Akron Symphony, and previously held the position of Second Trumpet with the Richardson Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed alongside celebrated artists including Doc Severinsen, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Kenny G, and Mannheim Steamroller. |
