Michael Attaway serves as the Director of Fine Arts at The Covenant School in Dallas, Texas. In this role, he works closely with faculty across the K–12 program to support strong arts instruction and to help shape the overall culture of the school. His work includes mentoring teachers, developing curriculum, and strengthening the connection between the arts and the broader life of the campus. Michael is also currently pursuing an Ed.S. in Classical Education Leadership at Gordon College. Before moving into educational leadership, Michael trained as a musician, earning degrees in trumpet performance from the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music and the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied with members of the Cleveland Orchestra. He has taught at Tarrant County College and Collin College and has presented sessions for the Society for Classical Learning and the Texas Music Educators Association. As a performer, he has worked with ensembles such as the Dallas Wind Symphony, Charleston Symphony, and Richardson Symphony Orchestra. His background in music and his work with teachers continue to shape his interest in how schools form students not only through curriculum, but through the everyday life of the classroom. |
